Passports

Take advantage of some of the upcoming long weekends and get your passport squared away if you don't already have one. Sometimes it takes up to 8 - 10 weeks to process, so do it soon!

For more information, visit the U.S. Passport Page on State Department website (link in the right column).

What is a "Mother Ship"?

A mother ship refers to a large ship that serves as a base of operations for smaller vessels. In our case, the 100' and 250 ton Lost Coast Explorer will serve as our mother ship. Using a 12,000 pound crane, smaller (19' sport boat and two 24" center consoles) boats will be lowered to the water to take students to surf, fish, and explore the "Lost Coast" of Panama.

The Lost Coast Explorer definitely fits the "mother ship" bill. Prior to coming to Panama, it tackled some of the roughest seas in the world while operating without incident in Alaska's Bering Sea.

Plasma Video

This is the video that will run on the plasmas around campus this week. Hopefully it will generate a lot of buzz for the trip. Already, I have a bunch of students who plan on signing up next week.
